Skunks cause serious property damage when they burrow and tunnel under and around homes, foundations and buildings, and can enter dwellings through foundation openings. Bricks and paving stones won't keep them out.
Skunks dig small, 3- to 4-inch cone-shaped holes or patches of upturned earth, and they are known to remove insects systematically from the turf in a section-by-section fashion where they are grubbing for insects while damaging lawns, landscapes and gardens.
