Snapshot 2.5 TG: Best Pre-emergent for Landscape Beds

Samuel Barrick

When everything is looking nice and green, and everything is almost perfect in your lawn and landscaping areas around your home, do you notice unsightly weeds continually popping up in your mulched areas? Most Non-selective herbicides like Roundup will just kill what is there but does not take care of the hidden seeds that can germinate all season long.

This is where Snapshot pre-emergent comes in! Snapshot is an excellent weed preventer that keeps your mulched areas free from weeds for up to 6 months giving you peace of mind and keeping your landscaped areas beautiful.

Like many pre-emergents, Snapshot works but preventing weed seed from developing and growing. For best results, apply Snapshot in the spring and in the fall to keep year-long control on your landscape beds. Snapshot will not kill any weeds existing. If you do have existing weeds, make sure to spray them out with a non-selective herbicide at the time of applying Snapshot.

What is the Active Ingredient(s)

Snapshot is a combination of isoxaben and trifluralin both of which provide essential control on broadleaf weeds. Both active ingredients are safe on most landscape ornamentals, but is not recommended for growing turfgrasses.

Weeds Snapshot Controls?

With over 120 broadleaf and grassy weeds that Snapshot is labeled to control, there are not many that will get through. Some weeds to highlight include barnyardgrass, bluegrass, chickweed, clover, crabgrass, plantain, and many other weeds.

What are the Most Common Places Snapshot is Applied and How Much To Apply?

While the main place snapshot is applied is landscape beds, it can also be applied in containers, Christmas tree plantations, groundcovers and perennials, non-bearing fruit and nut trees, non-bearing vineyards, and non-cropland.

With over 600 labeled ornamental plants that are safe to apply Snapshot around, Snapshot is one of the safest herbicides that will give you great results.

Simply apply 2.3 to 4.6 lbs per 1,000 square feet for season long control. Apply twice per year (spring and fall) for best results giving you year-long control.

After application, apply at least ½ inch of irrigation or rainfall for active ingredients to bond to soil particles.

As you can see, Snapshot is a great option for landscape ornamental bed control or as an over-the-top weed control on groundcovers and perennials.
